Manchester Pride Closes City Streets Over Bank Holiday Weekend
By EditorDetails of road closures during the Manchester Pride Big Weekend and the Pride Parade have been announced today by the festival organisers.
The four-day extravaganza includes headline performances from 1980s hit makers Human League and Bananarama, new acts Little Boots and Frankmusik and tabloid favourite Peter Andre.
Road closures from 6am on Friday 28th August until 7am Tuesday
1st September will affect eleven areas within the borders of
Portland Street, Princess Street, Whitworth Street and Minshull
Street.

Gay Legal Rights Group Urges Swift Elimination of USA's HIV Travel and Immigration Ban

After over twenty years of barring people
living with HIV from traveling or immigrating to the United States,
the federal government is one step closer to getting this baseless,
discriminatory law off the books, according to comments submitted
yesterday by Lambda Legal to the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services (HHS).The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the US Department of Health and Human Services has proposed removing HIV from the list of communicable diseases of public health significance for immigrants to the United States.
The ban originates from 1987, when fear about the spread of the disease led US officials to require anyone with HIV to declare their status and apply for a special visa.

UK Home Office Announces Ban on 'Legal' Party Drugs

Gamma butyrlactone (GBL) will become a class C drug, carrying a
prison term of up to two years for possession and dealing will
carry a maximum sentence of 14 years.
Mixed with alcohol or taken in too high a dosage it can kill
within minutes. Unlike gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), which is
illegal, GBL is currently legal and turns into GHB once in the
blood stream.
Both drugs are increasingly used in the gay club scene but while
GHB is sold by drug dealers, GBL is found in products such as
nail varnish remover.

Police Admit CCTV Cameras 'rarely catch criminals'
