A new radio station dedicated to LGBT listeners is to be launched later this month.

Gaydio will be broadcasted online and on 88.4FM in Greater Manchester, and will become the UK’s first dedicated LGBT FM station.

Gaydio’s afternoon shows will be presented by former Galaxy breakfast host Nicksy, and former Happy Mondays singer Rowetta will host the evening shows.

The station was originally created by Toby Whitehouse and Gaydio’s business director Ian Wallace to coincide with the Manchester Pride Festival.  After four broadcast pilots the station successful obtained a license to broadcast all year round.  Gaydio plan to broadcast "a mixture of upbeat music and targeted speech. . . 24 hours a day."

Gaydio will launch on Friday 18th June.

LOS ANGELES—JRL Communications Inc., parent company of gay adult movie tracker JRLChartsOnline.net, has left the gate two months earlier than it expected with its nominations for the first-ever JRL Gay Film Awards, which were announced on Memorial Day.

Each of the 50-odd categories features eight nominees. The categories cover a wide range of achievement that runs from DVD production to web-based entertainment. In addition to traditional categories like Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director and Best Screenplay, genre awards are offered in almost every category (bareback, performer type, etc.). Content websites and blogs are also honored (such as Best Gay Porn Star Adult Website and Best Original Online Gay Sex).

“Talent is the key to our industry, and this is why they have been recognized for their abilities to keep you, the consumer, on the edge of your seat every time you view their craft,” staff writer Andy Powell noted on the JRL Charts website.

The company also intends to induct the first five members in the JRL Hall of Fame: Steven Scarborough (Hot House Entertainment), Chi Chi LaRue (Channel 1 Releasing), Brian Brennan (Latino Fan Club Entertainment), Tiger Tyson (Pitbull Productions Inc.) and William Higgins (Wim Hof Productions).

The first annual JRL Gay Film Awards ceremony will take place Sept. 19 in Los Angeles, starting at 5 p.m. at the Catch One Disco, 4067 W. Pico Blvd.

Gay adult film industry stars and executives will congregate with fans of gay adult entertainment at the famed 12,000-square-foot location, which has hosted many major entertainment functions and has been used as a location for numerous TV shows and music videos.
